SEPTEMBER Girls Surf Trip in Morocco

SEPTEMBER Girls Surf Trip in Morocco

Written and photographed by Mia Bolton

Over the course of 48 hours, nine women trickled into the same small hotel in Imsouane, Morocco. They came from around the world – England, France, Australia, California, Bali – arriving as mostly strangers with a shared appetite for adventure and warm-water waves.

The loose daily routine of this Girls Surf Trip established itself quickly:

  • 6 am: Surf session #1

  • 9 am: Breakfast

  • 11 am: Surf session #2

  • 2 pm: Lunch / Nap / Lounging

  • 6 pm: Surf session #3

  • 8 pm: Dinner

  • 11 pm: Sleep / Repeat

Of course, each day had its own variations – including guided journaling, exploring surrounding towns, shopping at local markets, yoga on the rooftop (also an excellent vantage point for checking the waves), dawn patrol road trips to empty breaks we hoped were working, and even organizing care for an injured stray puppy named Peanut.

Over shared meals, long car rides and wave riding we got to know each other deeply: what brought each of us to Morocco, what our lives were like back home, what we cared about, what we struggled with and what we were growing into. We described the most beautiful things we saw in each other over chicken kabobs and fruit salads. We made each other belly laugh and cry tears of joy. We danced barefoot to Dolly Parton’s 9-5 and twirled together freely, like old friends who had long understood and loved each other.

Seven days later, some of the nine women returned to their respective homes as others continued their travels through Morocco and to other parts of the world. All carried with them meaningful new friendships in their hearts and SEPTEMBER Fall Holiday 2026 suits in their bags.

A very special thank you to Loued Surf Lodge for the warmest welcome and for being our home away from home for the week.

And a little love for the brands that came along for the ride and made the week that much better: KASSIA+SURF, Mid Fin Co, Made Sarongs, Sol Sista Collective and Zilly Hair.
