Erika, founder of SEPTEMBER, first met Nat, co owner of Alaia Mentawai, during Covid when she came to surf for two weeks, and what began as a surf trip quickly turned into a genuine friendship. Four years later, after a few return trips and a year spent bringing the vision to life, that connection has become SEPTEMBER x Alaia Mentawai, a collaboration shaped by friendship, surf, and a shared love of this special place.

With years of living and surfing in the Mentawais, Nat brought a deep understanding of what a surf suit truly needs to do in real conditions, while Erika brought SEPTEMBER’s fit driven approach to design. Together, we created pieces rooted in the belief that surf suits should feel beautiful, stay put, and perform through long days in the water.

We designed this surf suit to solve for the details that matter most once you are actually in the water. It was made to stay put through long sessions, feel comfortable against the skin, and hold a silhouette that feels as cute as it is functional.

This collection is a love letter to the Mentawais, to the women who build their lives around the ocean, and to the kind of surf that stays with you long after you leave the water. It reflects the places, friendships, and shared experiences that inspired SEPTEMBER x Alaia Mentawai from the very beginning.
